Omnipod Bay Goes to Space

On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon. Fifty-four years later, you can too… in Animal Crossing!

Omnipod Bay is a diabetes-friendly island for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, created by Insulet (makers of the Omnipod insulin pump). The island is crammed full of diabetes puns and in-jokes, and you can download outfits with diabetes tech built in. Four diabetes advocacy organizations are featured on the island, including JDRF (and our favorite bear).

One of the coolest things about Omnipod Bay’s recent space-themed update is that April Blackwell, a NASA engineer who lives with type 1, appears on the island! As part of our Game Over, T1D! fundraiser, she’ll join us on the JDRF Twitch channel on August 24 to explore the island and talk about how she balances diabetes management with her (extremely cool) job as a rocket scientist.

To visit Omnipod Bay—and go to space!—fire up Animal Crossing: New Horizons on your Nintendo Switch and use the dream code DA-9645-5879-6910. If you need help, our Omnipod Bay FAQ will get you sorted.

By the way, if you’re a big Animal Crossing fan, check out our JDRF Game2Give staff campaign for the upcoming Game Over, T1D! fundraiser. In exchange for a donation, Emily M. will cross-stitch an Animal Crossing character of your choice!
